Coffs Harbour Bus Travel Experience Day

Improved Bus Services: New Timetables Effective October 30

Better Bus Services for Coffs Harbour

COFFS HARBOUR: Ready to travel? CDC NSW local operator, Forest Coach Lines’ new bus network and timetable will be launched at the Coffs Harbour Bus Travel Experience Day in Woolgoolga tomorrow(Friday 27 October) hosted by Transport for NSW.

The new timetables and services are part of Transport for NSW’s 16 Regional Cities program, a major public transport boost announced by Regional Transport and Roads Minister Jenny Aitchison earlier this month.

CDC NSW Regional Manager Forest Coach Lines, Dene Petty said both urban and school routes improvements have been introduced as part of the program, as well as upgrades to Forest’s popular Woopi Connect On-Demand bus service, which provides people with a way to live more independent lives through access to personalised and cost-effective public transport.

“Changes will include extending our Woopi Connect hours of operation, adding a third vehicle to the fleet, longer hours on Saturday and the introduction of services on Sundays and public holidays. We will also now travel to Sandy Beach and further south to Emerald Beach, in addition to regular routes to communities like Woolgoolga, Safety Beach, Mullaway, Arrawarra, Arrawarra Headland and Corindi Beach.

“Changes to urban routes will include weekday buses every 30 minutes between Park Beach Plaza, Coffs Harbour CBD, Health Campus, Southern Cross University and Toormina Gardens.

“Other upgrades include town bus services in the Bonville (Bambara Drive) housing estate for the first time, more weekend and public holiday services, and extra services to Coffs Harbour Airport. There will also be faster and more direct bus services between Coffs Harbour and the northern beach suburbs, with connections to the expanded Woopi Connect service,” he said.

Forest Coach Lines services more than 40 schools in the Coffs Harbour region and changes to the routes from Monday 30 October 2023 can be found at forestcoachlines.com.au/school-services/school-timetables.

Mr Petty said the extra services also meant extra employment for the local community with more than 20 new full-time bus driver jobs created at Forest Coach Lines depots in Coffs Harbour, Sawtell and Woolgoolga including fully paid driver training programs for those new to bus driving.

“We welcome anyone interested in joining the team in a full time or casual capacity to come along and chat with us at the event tomorrow” he said.

The Coffs Harbour Bus Travel Experience Day is designed to help customers become more familiar with public transport, enjoy a short bus ride, and chat to the team.

It’s on tomorrow, Friday October 27, from 10am to 1pm at Woolgoolga Skate Park.
