Qcity Transit and Transborder Express buses roll out as CDC Canberra.
ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia (CDC) will commence operating expanded services in the Queanbeyan region from today, together with a fresh new look for its Greater Canberra bus lines.
The public transport upgrades, part of extensive network improvements by the NSW Government under its 16 Regional Cities Program, were launched in Queanbeyan today by NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW, the Hon. Paul Toole MP.
NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW, Paul Toole said:
“There will be more buses more often, faster, more direct routes, and new weekend services to connect local communities more reliably to where they need to go, with 90 new additional weekly bus services in Queanbeyan. The new bus network includes better cross-border connections with Canberra and the ACT, as well as improved services to Queanbeyan Station, Canberra Airport, Service NSW, and TAFE. Every day, customers travelling from Jerrabomberra and Googong to Canberra will save up to an hour in journey time under the new changes, and residents in the growing suburb of Tralee will receive town bus services for the first time.
“We are pleased to partner with CDC in delivering these major improvements to public transport services across the region.”
The upgrades coincide with the rebranding of CDC’s Qcity Transit and Transborder Express services to new branding, CDC Canberra. The combined fleet of more than 145 buses will now display the distinctive orange and blue livery of parent company, CDC, which operates in six states and territories.
CDC Regional Australia Division chief executive officer, Tony Hopkins, said the service expansions in partnership with the NSW Government would be fruitful for the communities it serves, current and future bus customers, and the additional employees who have joined the organisation to provide the new services. “We are delighted that the performance and expertise of our current operations and the way we treat our customers and employees is being further enhanced with the rollout of new services and bus network improvements under our contract with the NSW Government through Transport for NSW,” Mr Hopkins said.
“For customers, it means better services under the NSW Government’s network improvements in Queanbeyan, provided by CDC, a long-term operator which has invested significantly in its operations to deliver a safe and reliable service.
“For our school community, it will mean more choices and better connectivity via additional public transport options. This means some school services will be amended from Term 1 2023. Details of school and urban services can be found on our new website cdccanberra.com.au.
“For new employees, it means they will be looked after by a large multinational company with a strong commitment to investing in local communities and providing employees with good working conditions and long-term opportunities.”
Operating across the Greater Canberra region, CDC employs more than 220 local staff at its Queanbeyan and Canberra depots, providing urban, school, special needs, and charter services.
